New software/KVM

Just switched to InputDirector from Synergy. Input Director is a Windows application that lets you control multiple Windows systems using the keyboard/mouse attached to one computer. Running on Windows 7 server and clients without a hitch. Doesn't suffer from the random "mouse spins" while running a full screen game with mouselook enabled. Highly recommend it.

My next project is the Home Entertainment center.

A single TV just seems inadequate. Looking for solutions now that the Nerd room is done.

Break glass in case of Sith!

Working on my Star Wars collection. Need a lot more light sabers. Eventually want one from each movie and a matching movies poster. This is my Nerd room.

WoW in surround gaming mode

Two more monitors added

Got the top row of monitors installed now. Triple screens on the bottoms row 3x 24" running at 5040x1050. Four 17" monitors across the top running standard 1280x1024. Added parts from a Ergotron DS100 Quad mount.

Think I might be exceeding the weight capacity of my desk.

Switch from Synergy to Input director for multi monitor mouse/keyboard control. Hopefully I will like it as much as I did Synergy.

Specs:

It has begun!

The new PC build is underway so far things looking pretty good. Got Windows 7 installed without a hitch. Benchmarked it untweaked, results look less than stellar.
Will need to performance tune. But overall looks like it's working.

Aion supports Triple Head

Forum posting found here.

Matrox TripleHead2Go

Triple monitor goodness!! Wotlk Video

This is the Matrox TripleHead2Go... really
considering this for my next upgrade.

AND! whats more: Star Wars the Old Republic uses the Hero Engine!

HeroEngine

"The Matrox Triplehead2GO provided the screen space needed to spread out the development tools comfortably and still have a large area to view the game world. With our massive tool set, this is a nice advantage as you didn't need to search for the right tool. The huge screen space meant it was just there, ready to use when needed."
Eric Slick - Director of Development - Simutronics® Corporation

"The Matrox Triplehead2GO paired smoothly with HeroEngine's versatile open-ended architecture, making integration an absolute breeze! It's turned into a real attention-getter at tradeshows - I can't count the number of people who stopped at our booth to comment that they've never seen anything quite like it! This really opened up a whole new way of looking at our worlds! "
Aaron Standridge - Lead Interface Designer - Simutronics® Corporation

I think I'd like to have one of there controllers. I believe one could controll RGB LED lamps with music or video input.

I see there are new LED lighting options being made now. LIT is making LED underlight kits for homes. Worth looking into.

While thinking about my "man" room, I found these pictures of an awesome Star Wars home theater. Simply awesome!
This might actually be a Nerd room.

Hrmmm. I have the perfect wall for this in my computer room. But then, that would validate people calling it my "vader-room", which it clearly is not. Wall mounts are available for the FX lightsabers at Saber-Stand.

I've really been wanted to collect some of the movies posters too.

Stylish seating? Data Entry nightmare?

Sunday, April 26, 2009

I am not really sure that I needed another upgrade, but I went for it!
Added this round:

Another Side mount CPU rack on the right hand side. This one is holding a new high end PC that matches the one on the left.  I left the cabling long enough on this one to reach to a seconday desk for 2player Head to head FPS style games.

A 24" monitor in the center. The 20" I was using was getting a bit cramped and lets face it, I am not getting any younger and my eyesight none the better. I suspect I am getting very close to the weight capacity of my desk.

Tucked behind the monitors I added the Phillips amBX lighting system. Cause mood lighting is cool.

In the center position of CPU's I've repurposed one of the old PC's to a Windows Home Server, added tons of Storage capacity, moved all my media files and am running automated backups and restore services for the other computers.

4 out of the 6 Gaming PC's are now running Windows Vista 64bit, thanks to a subscription to TechNET plus.
